GLENBURGIE 1994 Single Malt
Jay's Tasting Notes
Our Cask III, aged in refill sherry cask, of the acclaimed Party Source Glenburgie(folks have even called in to radio talk shows raving about this whisky, seriously) follows with a lighter step in the trail of the thickly-sherried Casks I and II. There's no getting around the fabulous feel of this whisky, not to mention the fruit expressionand superb balance. The buttery style of sherry cask is beautifully integrated, nearly perfect in that narrow category. Fruit is well done here as well, with clear apple-pear tones expressed with fine integration of malt-air-smoke-sherry. The intersection of fruit to all these is very fine (and even, perhaps, uniquely Glenburgie?). For a fruit-driven, moderately sherried whisky, this is mouthfilling, oily-creamy and big. I like the nice, late plume of peat, rather more prominent that our Glenburgie casks I and II.
